Getting Around Melbourne

Getting Around Melbourne

Melbourne is a compact city best explored on foot where your sense of discovery is heightened by the unique spaces, experiences and hidden gems often stumbled upon along the way. Thanks to its grid layout, navigating is easy and made more inviting by its smart connectivity.

The city encompasses an extensive public transport network, accessible taxi services and caters for travel to destinations further afield through our many tour operators.

Public Transport

Melbourne has one of the largest tram systems in the world, making travelling around the city easy. For added convenience, all tram travel within Melbourne’s city centre is free. Metropolitan tram and train services operate between 5am and midnight Monday to Thursday, with extra hours on Friday and Saturday nights. There are also over 300 bus routes across Melbourne, servicing cross-suburban travellers and connections to train stations.

A smartcard ticketing system called myki covers travel on all of Melbourne’s trains, trams and buses. Delegates can buy a myki Explorer pack comes with a ready-to-use card, handy maps and discounts to some of our favourite places.

Taxi Services

Taxis and Ubers also operate out of Melbourne Airport 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A one-way trip to the city takes 20 – 30 minutes’ subject to time of day.

Travel beyond Melbourne

Tour operators are accessible from Melbourne to regional Victoria for day trips or shorter stays. Here you’ll explore the best landscapes, local produce, wineries, coastlines and Australian native wildlife, within 90 minutes from Melbourne. Delegates can book these often directly through their accommodation concierge or for a customised itinerary, contact us to help you plan a group program.
