Winter incentive groups heat-up in Melbourne
July 30, 2019
Riding the tailwinds of a successful end of financial year, Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) shows no signs of slowing, securing 21 business events across Corporate Incentive Travel (CIT) and the first major association event of the year, CODA 2020 (CODA was formally known as the Social Media and Critical Care Conference).
These events are expected deliver over $20.1 million in economic contribution to Victoria’s economy. The majority of the 3728 delegates are due to arrive over the next two months and deliver almost 11,000 room nights.
MCB’s acting CEO Julia Swanson praised the efforts by the MCB team only four weeks into the new financial year.
“We are off to a flying start this year, with the team consistently increasing hotel occupancy during the winter months with visitors staying mid-week.
“The incentive sector has never looked so healthy, providing ongoing direct business opportunities to our MCB partners. More room nights, venue bookings and retail spend – ultimately a partnership with MCB means more business,” Ms. Swanson said.
As a leading premium incentives destination, Melbourne offers limitless experiences from dining, shopping and art, through to wildlife encounters, adventurous activities and beautiful regional spots.
MCB’s integration into Visit Victoria gives it an edge over domestic local and international competitors in accessing major events and generating outcomes for incentive groups to create money can’t buy, VIP experiences that are unique to the city.
Latest trends also show incentive groups now prefer more hands-on and immersive experiences and options for groups to experience the destination like a local. MCB excels in crafting bespoke itineraries designed to suit every group - from participating in street art workshops to learning all about Melbourne famous coffee and exploring the city’s eclectic laneways.
