    March 25, 2025

Melbourne has been chosen as the host destination for the Global Hepatitis Summit 2027, further cementing the city’s position as a global leader in medical research and innovation.

Secured by the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) in partnership with the Burnet Institute and the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, the Global Hepatitis Summit 2027 will attract hundreds of attendees from around the world. The conference will take place in the first half of 2027 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The biennial Summit is a cutting-edge research conference that shares the latest developments in liver diseases, including viral hepatitis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma. The 2027 Summit will profile Melbourne’s globally recognised research facilities and provide a platform to promote Australia as a world-renowned location for viral hepatitis research and advancements.

This multinational and multidisciplinary conference is an opportunity for professionals and trainees from diverse fields to share their knowledge and collaborate on research and the best new practices.

The event includes four days of keynotes, clinical workshops, scientific plenaries, networking sessions, a large exhibition component, as well as the opportunity to co-locate the host destination’s national Viral Hepatitis meeting.

Melbourne’s successful bid highlights the city’s commitment to healthcare and global influence in the field, underscoring Victoria’s reputation as a hub of medical research excellence. The Summit adds to an impressive line-up of international media events coming to the city in the next two years, including the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit 2025, the World Congress of Gastroenterology 2025, and the International Diabetes Federations Western Pacific Regional Congress 2026.
