Applications now open for National Business Event Program

The race is on to secure a slice of new funding with applications now open for the National Business Event Program. For a limited time, Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) with support from the Victorian State Government is offering eligible event organisers up to $25,000 to offset costs for hosting their event in Australia’s event’s capital Melbourne.

This significant cash injection can be put towards accommodation, venue hire, transport and other event costs, with 50 per cent of payable before the event commences to support upfront expenses.

MCB Chief Executive Julia Swanson said, “Melbourne has always been an innovator in the events space. If you have ever wanted to host your event in Melbourne, now is the time to get planning and submit your application.”

Business event organisers from anywhere in Australia can apply for funding. Eligible events include conferences, exhibitions or tradeshows, workshops and seminars, as well as corporate meetings and incentive group events with a business event program.

All supported business events must run for at least two days, attracting 150 or more people in-person with at least 30 per cent of delegates travelling to Melbourne from interstate. Valid only for new business event bookings for events to be held in Melbourne prior to 31 December 2022.

Grants are available for a limited time with applications closing 30 June 2021, or when available funding is exhausted if sooner.
