  • Welcome to Destination Business Events 2019

    The Melbourne Convention Bureau sends a big welcome to all delegates visiting Melbourne for the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux’s (AACB) Destination Business Events 2019 conference.

    Starting today at Cargo Hall by Showtime Event Group and the Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre and on until 20 September. This year’s conference theme ‘Customer Experience: Laneways to Success’ will give delegates plenty of opportunities to learn about customer needs and how to drive longer lasting relationships.

    The conference will commence with the AACB Welcome Reception at Cargo Hall, where delegates will connect and network with peers, whilst enjoying interactive food and entertainment experiences - a true unique Melbourne culinary and cultural journey.

    MCB's Acting CEO, Julia Swanson, Melbourne City Councillor Susan Riley, Association of Australian Convention Bureaux’s (AACB) CEO Andrew Hiebl and Boon Wurrung Foundation’s Director, David Johnson will welcome and share their business events knowledge with delegates.

    Day two, will be an insightful day with many highlights, including sessions on Building Australia’s value proposition with Tourism Australia’s Penny Lion, customer Engagement and Key Learnings, Amplifying the Customer Experience through Major Events with speakers Andrew Westacott, Josie Brown and Jim Louderback.

    The day also will include exceptional breakout sessions, Prepare an Asian Destination Bid Pitch and Accessibility is at the heart of Business Success, which includes the globally renowned Dialogue in the Dark.

    On the final day, delegates will experience more sessions including “How to stand out from the crowd” – what clients are looking for in events by Peter Jones AM, Marketing Technology Uncovered – The changing customer experience landscape, with speakers Maurice Riley and Katlynn Land and a Keynote Presentation from Nicole Livingstone discussing achievement, commitment and motivation, as well as insight into the growth of women’s sport.

    To concluded the conference in style, delegates will enjoy a gala dinner with colleagues at a truly unique venue - Melbourne’s newest rooftop space, Crown Aviary.  Nestled on the rooftop of the distinguished hotel, delegates are in for a treat with landscaped beautiful gardens, uninterrupted city views over Melbourne’s skyline, fine food and exceptional entertainment.
