Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality on show in Melbourne
September 10, 2018
World-class Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) was brought to life in Melbourne at the Magnify World Expo and Business Summit 2018, the leading public event of its kind within the Asia-Pacific region.
This was the first time Melbourne hosted this event which took place in August at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).
As specialists in AR and VR, Magnify World is one of the largest roadshows covering Australasia, China and North America, and it was selected as the flagship event to kick off the Victorian Government Digital Innovation Festival - a showcase and celebration of excellence across the digital and the tech community/sector.
Day one featured expert local and international speakers across a variety of sectors inc. film, tv, advertising, gaming, artificial intelligence and investment. Delegates were thrilled to hear from acclaimed digital imaging expert & visual effects (VFX) Barry Sandrew Ph.D, who was behind colorising B&W films and bringing 3D to 2D movies. Dr Sandrew discussed the journey of alternative realities, where they’re headed and how they’ll influence our lives in the future.
Day two was the public expo which provided an opportunity for those passionate in the field to experience exciting new AR/VR technologies from fortune 500 companies and see Australia’s first public VR DOME Theatre.
The event brought together both experts and the public to embrace the latest technology in the AR/VR world and how such technology can become part of everyday life.
