  • Victoria named the Pacific Regional Convening Partner for the Women Deliver 2023 Conference

    October 27, 2022

Victoria, in partnership with the Commonwealth Government, will be the Pacific Regional Convening Partner for the Women Deliver 2023 (WD2023) Conference – one of the largest gender equality conferences in the world.

Melbourne Convention Bureau is proud to be part of the Victorian Government’s important work in the lead up to Women Deliver 2023 which will bring over 6,000 gender equality champions, feminists and decision makers from across the world to Kigali, Rwanda.

The theme of WD2023 is Spaces, Solidarity, and Solutions. WD2023 will enable inclusive and co-created spaces that foster solidarity for sustainable solutions on gender equality.

    WD2023 Objectives:

    1. Catalyse Collective Action to Advance Gender Equality
    2. Hold Leaders Accountable
    3. Empower the Feminist Movement
    4. Reframe Who Leads
    5. Create Space

The vision, theme, and objectives of the Conference were selected by the WD2023 Advisory Group, in consultation with over 5,000 advocates, spanning 166 countries, generations, and sectors who participated in design sprints and Women Deliver’s Global Community Consultation.

Together, with its Pacific neighbours, Victoria will fast-track collective action to bring perspectives on climate justice, First Nations treaty and truth-telling, economic empowerment, women’s sexual health and reproductive rights and ending gender-based violence.

As a Regional Convening Partner, Victoria will create a regional committee of grassroots advocates, women’s rights organisations and sector partners, and host in person and virtual events in the lead up to the conference.
