Showtime Event Group Presents its newest partner, Hellenic Museum

Showtime Event Group is thrilled to announce a partnership with a significant Melbourne venue, Hellenic Museum.

As one of Melbourne’s leading event specialists, Showtime Event Group continuously endeavours to expand across the state through providing new and exciting events within key venues. The newest addition to the group’s portfolio represents culture and elegant bespoke events for its growing clientele.

Showtime Event Group will manage a range of social and corporate, internal and external catered events at the Hellenic Museum.

The Hellenic Museum is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2007 by the late businessman and philanthropist Spiros Stamoulis. A Greek immigrant, Stamoulis’ vision was to create a cultural institution which would promote an understanding and the enjoyment of Greek culture, art and history.

Housed in the Royal Mint Building on William Street in the Melbourne CBD, the Hellenic Museum is a hidden treasure in Melbourne’s bustling CBD. The former Mint building has been a Melbourne landmark since its inception. The location was originally used for cricket matches, balls, dances and bazaars before opening in 1872 to manufacture coins. Since its closure in 1968, the Mint building has also housed the Registry of Civil Marriages and the Royal Historical Society of Victoria.  As a result, the building has become a key focal point for representing the growth of Melbourne as a city, and subsequently, Victoria as a colony.

The stunning building is of great architectural significance in Victoria and is one of the most impressive 19^th Century buildings in the state. Period elegance meets modern chic across the three unique event spaces that include indoor and outdoor areas and even galleries.

The Hellenic Museum has the capacity to host up to 1,000 guests across the venue. The M-Pavilion, designed by architect Sean Godsell, won the 2015 Australian Institute of Architects award before relocating to the gardens of the Museum. Describing the building’s daily opening ceremony, The Wall Street Journal said: “The pavilion’s beauty lies in its movement. Every morning, pneumatic arms lift the walls and roof, opening the space underneath.” In addition, the eastern courtyard is a versatile space that can host occasions ranging from cocktail functions, to seated dinners and theatre style events.

The unique Henson Room houses the first major art commission by the Hellenic Museum and represents artist Bill Henson’s love of Greek philosophy and the arts. The space offers an intimate immersive experience.
