New Melbourne Visitor Hub Opens At Town Hall

The new Melbourne Visitor Hub at the iconic Town Hall will offer visitors a more bespoke, local and uniquely Melbourne experience.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren joined City of Melbourne Mayor Sally Capp to officially launch the new hub which will be one of the city’s busiest visitor service points.

“Even though we’re pushing ahead on major projects, we won’t let that stop us from offering a wonderful visitor experience for anyone who comes to our great city,” said John Eren 

The new visitor centre, located within the historic Melbourne Town Hall is replacing the Melbourne Visitor Centre in Federation Square which has now closed to make way for Metro Tunnel works.
Visitors will enjoy a more personalised experience at the new hub which will encourage a greater interaction with staff and volunteers to help visitors make the most of their stay.

The space also features more digital access and an exhibition space which showcases Melbourne’s local retail and hospitality businesses as well as key events and attractions.

The opening of the Melbourne Town Hall Visitor Hub will be followed by the Queen Victoria Market Visitor Hub which is due to open later in the year and will help showcase Victoria’s regional produce and the market’s cultural heritage to local and international visitors.

Tourism in Melbourne is on the rise with the total number of visitors reaching 29.5 million for the year ending March 2018, a jump of over 5 per cent year-on-year. Total tourism expenditure for Melbourne has also increased to $17.1 billion, up 7.4 per cent in the same period.

The Melbourne Town Hall Visitors Hub joins an extensive network of vital tourism services which help drive the overall visitor experiences of millions of visitors to the city, greater Melbourne and Victoria.
The Melbourne Visitor Hub at Town Hall will be open from 9am to 6pm seven days per week except for Christmas Day.
