The Savoy Hotel on Little Collins, Melbourne CBD
Modern MICE facilities with a touch of old-world charm
With a beautiful façade, and internal grandeur of an art deco heritage building, The Savoy Hotel on Little Collins Melbourne has recently been restored as one of Melbourne’s most sophisticated addresses.Conveniently located opposite Southern Cross Station and within striking distance of the MCEC, Etihad Stadium and the Southbank and Docklands precincts, the hotel continues to service patrons in the same way it has throughout the often-glamorous lifetime.
While the latest multi-million-dollar refurbishment has reverently returned the interior to its original art deco heritage, The Savoy Hotel on Collins still boasts the contemporary luxuries and modern conveniences it has always been known for.
• 163 art deco-inspired guest rooms
• Six stylish and versatile meeting rooms flooded with natural light
• Theatre-style capacity for up to 130 people
• Cocktail capacity for up to 320 guests.
At the forefront of innovation of its time, The Alexander Hotel as it was then known, was the first in Australia with approval for bathrooms off the inside (as opposed to outside) walls. This allowed each of the 147 bedrooms to have an en-suite bathroom, complete with hot and cold running water, a bathtub, lavatory and basin, and eliminating the need for a wash-stand. Additional comforts such as electric power and forced ventilation along with telephones, five points of light, a wireless and built-in clothing closets fitted with coat hangers complemented each of the rooms, along with fire extinguishing equipment. A servidor was attached to each bedroom door to allow for laundry to be offered without the need for staff to enter bedrooms and ensure guests complete privacy, along with providing extra ventilation to the rooms.
In 2018, with a new name (it was formerly a Vibe Hotel brand) to match its new look and rich history, The Savoy Hotel on Little Collins Melbourne, re-opened under the TFE Hotels Collection brand – a portfolio of discovery hotels with a sense of story, place and purpose.Today, the original beautiful ballroom is ideal for sophisticated events featuring handcrafted beaded chandeliers and Victorian silk drapes, while the Boardroom’s rich palette of timber, leather and stone provides an elegant space ideal for a private dining experience or a business meeting. And when your meetings have wrapped for the day, the chic Alexander Bar awaits with contemporary food and a range of wine, beers, ciders and spirits from around the globe, that have been carefully curated to enhance the overall experience.
