Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre celebrate 25 years of bringing the world to Melbourne
Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) is taking the time to look back, and forward to recognise the important role that partnerships have played over the iconic centre’s quarter century in bringing the world stage to Melbourne.
One key strategic partner is the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB), Victoria’s leading agency in acquiring and delivering international and national conferences, incentive travel reward programs and corporate business events. Together with MCB, and through the award-winning Club Melbourne Ambassador program, MCEC have managed to attract thousands of the world’s great minds to the city.
Going above and beyond for clients and partners, to create memorable events and lasting social and community impacts through legacies that deliver well beyond the event itself, MCB has played a crucial role in contributing to the success of the MCEC.
Since its inception, MCEC have hosted over 500 events secured by MCB, roughly equating to 20-30 events each year, occupying our spaces for more than 100 days and attracting on average up to 30,000 delegates to pass through our doors. This amounts to a significant economic contribution, injecting more than $2 billion into the Victorian economy.
Looking ahead, MCB has already secured 76 future events for MCEC expected to attract 120,750 delegates over the next eight years and contribute $772 million in economic impact.
Within MCEC’s walls, these unconventional thinkers have met, connected and worked together to respond to global challenges. Incredible knowledge has been shared, inspiration has struck, and memories have been created. Join a walk down memory lane, looking at some of the events that have left lasting legacies, all of which were made possible through our partners.
