MCEC and Harry the Hirer partnered to promote Sustainable Events at AIME 2020
Event sustainability has become a key consideration when planning business events. Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre (MCEC) and Harry the hirer, renowned exhibitions hire company and both MCB’s strategic partner recognise and proactively worked together at AIME 2020 to inspire delegates to be sustainable when attending meetings and events.
MCEC and Harry the hirer consider that all areas of event delivery have opportunities to reduce waste and influence decisions that lead to a reduction in emissions. They invited AIME delegates to share their journey in the events sustainability space and discuss potential blocks they face when trying to deliver more sustainable events.
A Sustainability Hub was present on the show-floor and showcased practical ways to make events greener, including considerations around stand design and materials, food and drink, venue choice and green power.
Delegates learned more about the MCEC’s and Harry the Hirer’s own sustainability initiatives, including MCEC’s 100-mile menu and the installation of 36 permanent Food Cubes in the courtyard and Harry the Hirer’s launch of their new Poppy table collection, made from 100% recycled HDPE plastic, an industry first in post-consumer ‘closed loop’ recycled plastic furniture products.
The Sustainability Hub gave delegates eco-friendly options and best practices in delivering environmentally friendly events, including how partnerships between venues, suppliers and organisers can lead to more sustainable events.
