    December 10, 2019

Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) in partnership with the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre recently hosted a panel discussion with Rotary International’s Director of Meetings & Events Ms Shannon Watson on the delivery of annual conferences with large delegations in excess of 25,000+ attendees, and the challenges facing global associations with over a  million members.

Peter Jones, Managing Director at Peter Jones Special Events, led the discussion around event trends, legacies, sustainability and the overall customer experience; to over 50 representatives from national associations and MCB’s Strategic Partners.

Business events professionals had the opportunity to network with peers in the industry, ask questions from an associations expert and learn how to put theory into practice.

Earlier this year the Victorian Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula announced Melbourne as the host city for the 2023 Rotary International Convention. To be held across MCEC and Melbourne and Olympic Parks, the convention is the most valuable conference ever won for the state, expected to attract 20,000 Rotary members from over 200 countries and regions worldwide and injecting over $110 million into the Victorian economy.
