  • Joining the global dialogue #WD2019

    June 12, 2019

The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) together with the Victorian Government are actively raising awareness for women’s health and rights and driving change through global dialogue.

Victorian Minister for Women Gabrielle Williams is recognised as an influential advocate for gender equality and is inviting key stakeholders and supporters in the field to celebrate the launch of Melbourne’s bid to host the Women Deliver Conference in 2022 this Friday 14 June.

Women Deliver is a leading global advocate that champions gender equality and the health and rights of girls and women. Their advocacy drives investment – political and financial – in the lives of girls and women worldwide. Women Deliver harness evidence and unite diverse voices to spark commitment to gender equality. They advocate for the rights of girls and women across every aspect of their lives, knowing that investing in girls and women will deliver progress for all.

The Women Deliver conference has never been held in Australia and led by the MCB and a local advisory committee, Melbourne is bidding for the right to host the globally renowned conference in 2022.

The MCB is working closely with the Victorian State Government to deliver a bid launch event at Parliament House in Melbourne on Friday 14 June to launch the bid.

This gender equality event is registered as a satellite event of WD2019 taking place during June in Vancouver (#WD2019).
