Melbourne and regional Victoria offer an amazing array of experiences to explore the outdoors. Relax next to the calmest waters, breathe among tall trees in the forest, wander in the greenest gardens and explore the city and its regions in all its different seasons.

    On the city’s edge

At the edge of the city centre, yet what feels like a world away from the city buzz, you’ll find the Royal Botanic Gardens which boasts stunning views and pathways to wander while viewing more than 8,500 plant species.

Breathe in the calm air among lush lawns and majestic trees. Enjoy the Garden Discovery Tour, a chauffeured punt on the Ornamental Lake or unwind at one of the two cafes.

Join the popular ‘Aboriginal Heritage Walk’ with an Indigenous guide and get a unique insight into the history of both the Gardens and its traditional owners.

    Take in the salty air

Follow your day with a stroll down the beach at famous ‘Brighton Beach Bathing Boxes’, where 82 distinctive multi-coloured beach huts line the foreshore of one of Melbourne’s most exclusive neighbourhoods.

Paddle in the water, enjoy the beachside scenery and take unforgettable group photos in front of the colourful bathing boxes.

    From coast to country

Plan another day out in regional Victoria and hop on Australia’s favourite steam train, Puffing Billy. You’ll get to ride in the open-sided heritage carriages as it travels on its original mountain track through the beautiful forests and fern gullies of the Dandenong Ranges, located one hour east of Melbourne.

If you feel like relaxing, enjoy on board the golden era of train travel in the fully enclosed heritage dining carriages, where you’ll enjoy fine dining in style.

Combine the railway ride with a thrilling outdoor adventure at ‘Trees Adventure’, Victoria’s first treetop and zipline eco-adventure park. Over two hours, your group will soar through the treetops of the Dandenong Ranges along ziplines or balancing on wooden bridges, cargo nets and tightropes.

A city surrounded by nature, Melbourne has direct access to some of the best outdoor adventures, spectacular coastlines and lush green valleys, giving way to enchanting wineries and impressive vistas.
