Accessible conference ideas in the heart of Melbourne
April 01, 2024
When delegates arrive in Melbourne, they're not staying an hour out of town in a nondescript location. They are staying in the pulsing heart of our cosmopolitan city.
With help from the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB), event planners’ can easily design a fully walkable conference program in our safe and welcoming city, eliminating the need for coach transfers or taxis. Conference venues, accommodation, restaurants and gala event venues can all be at your doorstep.
Here is an example of a stay, meet and play itinerary with Crown Melbourne, where delegates will have everything they need at their fingertips.
Where to stay
Choose from three Crown Melbourne hotels: Crown Promenade, Crown Metropol and Crown Towers, depending on your budget.
Where to meet
Crown Conference Centre is a purpose-built centre for meetings, residental conferences, product launches, exhibitions and events. The clean modern design provides an ideal backdrop, affording an abundance of natural light in all breakout rooms, a flexible layout, along with the latest in audio-visual technologies.
The Centre has two main plenary rooms, 16 breakout rooms, a dedicated exhibition space, exclusive group registration areas and four barista style cafes. The first floor of the Centre also boasts an Organiser’s Suite - a private work area for organisers consisting of two offices, a boardroom accommodating up to 10 people, plus a private bathroom with shower.

Where to play
From Crown Melbourne Casino, cinemas, mini golf and escape rooms – there are plenty of activities all within the one complex. Add more amazing restaurants and bars that you could dream of, with views of the Yarra River and there is simply no need to go anywhere else.
Walking between venues
All three hotels are a short walk to the Crown Conference Complex. Delegates can literally check in to their hotel and soak up the beauty of Melbourne’s Yarra River and South Wharf promenade, bustling with restaurants, bars and cafes.
Exploring further
If delegates want to see more of what Melbourne has to offer, they can walk across a footbridge nearby their Crown hotel straight into Melbourne’s central business district. Alternatively, there are free, solar-powered trams departing regularly into the city.
Ask the Melbourne Convention Bureau to create a fully accessible conference program for your future business event – the options are endless!
