Presenting a casual approach to fine dining, Cutler & Co. is the two hat restaurant and flagship venue of acclaimed chef Andrew McConnell. Inspired by the building’s industrial past, the conversion into a contemporary restaurant has seen high ceilings, raw walls and off beat architectural elements combine to provide a space that is both welcoming and engaging. Parquetry flooring, soft leather banquettes and statement pendant light features are paired with dark wooden tables and modern place settings, striking the perfect balance between elegance and simplicity. The open plan kitchen at the front of the restaurant creates a dynamic focal point and provides guests with a subtle behind-the-scenes ambience. Cutler & Co. welcomes lunch and dinner events seven days a week, offering the entire restaurant as an exclusive venue. For smaller gatherings, a secluded private dining space is located at the rear of the restaurant where a lush fern garden and sheer curtain creates an intimate atmosphere. With a passion for exceptional produce and uncomplicated, beautiful food, Andrew and his team of chefs translate the philosophy of Cutler & Co. into degustation menus, which sees individual dishes served in progression. Whether it be a short and sharp business lunch over three courses, or a special celebration that is enjoyed over several, the menu offering is adaptable to each unique event. Hero elements such as dry aged duck, Wagyu beef or locally caught bass groper are accompanied by quality Victorian produce prepared with skill in a way that brings out the very best in each ingredient. For those that enjoy a feast and love a feature element, a whole roast suckling pig or a 1.1kg O’Connor rib-eye can be added as a highlight course to any menu. A stand up cocktail event may see delicious Ortiz anchovy en croute circulate the room along with ocean trout on rye and Wagyu bresola served with whipped potato. More substantial canapés follow, which could include slow cooked beef short rib with eggplant & daikon or a rich Taleggio gnocchi. An extensive cellar features a range of Old World and New World labels, focusing on the best examples of vintage, varietal, style and region. Curated beverage packages have been put together with wines that best complement the key ingredients of each dish, offering a set price per person package that is served for the duration of the event. For those that prefer a bespoke selection, a team of experienced sommeliers can collaborate on and tailor a specific collection of wines chosen from the comprehensive list. Simple audio-visual requirements such as a projector and screen with microphone or a corner LCD monitor work perfectly in the space.
