Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB), Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) and City of Melbourne (CoM) collaborated to host Knowledge Week dinner with great business events outcomes
Melbourne Convention Bureau in collaboration with Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) and City of Melbourne (CoM) held a joint Knowledge Week Event on Thursday 22 October at Mural Hall with over 60 guests attending. The purpose of the event was to strengthen relationships with national associations, research centres, organisations and universities. The formal dinner was strategically held within Melbourne Knowledge Week (MKW) so those in attendance could be recognised for the contribution that they make to the knowledge economy in Melbourne. As a result of the dinner several leads and bids in development have been progressed.
MCB and partners focus on business event sectors from New Zealand at PAICE 2015
Melbourne Convention Bureau participated in PAICE 2015 in Auckland on 18 November with 8 other MCB Partners targeting the outbound business events sector from New Zealand. It was a successful event attended by over 160 New Zealand buyers and media.
MCB strongly represented partners at IBTM world 2015 in Barcelona in November
Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) UK office had a strong presence at ibtm world 2015 in Barcelona from the 17th - 19th November. Formerly EIBTM, ibtm world is the leading global event for the meetings. Incentives, conferences, events and business travel industry. The event gathers over 15,500 meetings industry professionals for three days of focused business opportunities with over 3000 exhibitors, thought provoking professional education and networking to drive business for the future. Fiona Chappell, Director of Business Development UK & Europe and Giles Handford, Senior Business Development Manager UK & Europe were kept very busy with over 50 appointments held over the 3 day period relating to the international association and incentives market.
WHAT'S COMING UP
MCB participating at Dreamtime 2015
MCB team will be participating in Dreamtime 2015 to be held in Adelaide 6 - 9 December 2015. This is an opportunity to promote Melbourne and our incentive products to over 70 international incentive buyers. MCB will also be hosting a post Dreamtime Educational Famil for 20 buyers and media from New Zealand and Japan 9 - 12 December 2015.
MCB raises over $15,000 to support the Starlight Children's Foundation
The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) team and its partners prove that they are not only winners for Melbourne, but also for charity, raising $15,087 for the Starlight Children's Foundation, by participating in the gruelling Great Adventure Challenge at Phillip Island.
Taking place on Saturday, 14 November, the team were put through their paces, coming in an impressive 1st place, beating 7 other corporate teams as they took on mountain biking, trail running, kayaking, coasteering and several challenges, in a true test of their physical and mental strength.
Thanks to the ongoing support of our major sponsors, Micenet, Accor, WALDRONSMITH Management, Atlantic Group, MCI, Myriad and everyone else that contributed including our industry partners, the MCB team were able to raise the vital funds for the Starlight Children's Foundation, which will help transform the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families, with the contributions going towards granting two Starlight wishes.
